Happy Halloween!

We had a great Halloween around here!  I love days when Michael works from home!  It is so great to have him around until like 8:59.  We had a great morning today with the kids, which really isn't always the case.  But it was a great start to the day.  The kids were happy and we had a lovely morning.

After getting the boys off to school, I sent the girls downstairs to play and got a coat of paint up on one of the kitchen walls.  It feels like a super duper extra bonus when I can get something like that done while the children are awake.

Then we headed out with some good friends to an awesome preschooler Halloween party put on by Minneapolis Parks and Recs, only to find that we had to pre-register since there were so many people there, and we couldn't actually go inside.  Sophie was completely devastated.  Luckily, going to lunch with our friends at McDonald's and playing at the play land took her mind off of it, and then we headed back home and did a hand print spider painting craft, and after that all was forgiven!  Thank heavens for good friends and distractable children!

Then we laid Hannah down for a nap and since Michael was working from home, Sophie and I left her napping while we went to the Re/Store to see if they had any baseboard, and wouldn't you know, they did!  I scored all of the baseboard for our kitchen (unused and already white, mind you) for a whopping $4!  Seriously!  It kind of made my day.

Then we got back home and I put a coat of the right kind of white paint on a baseboard while Hannah and Sophie had a snack, and then we went to get the boys from school.  The kids played around, I made dinner, we went to visit a good friend to show her the kids' Halloween costumes, and then it was trick or treating time!

This year Ryan was the guy from Jetpack Joyride, Calvin was a power ranger, Sophie was the snow queen, and Hannah was a doggie.  I snapped a few pictures of them before it got dark, and I love how they are just dripping with personality.

Trick or treating started off a little rough because Hannah decided she hated her costume and was very vocal about it.  But the big ones had a blast, even though it was 29 degrees outside.  At least they listened when I suggested they bundle up!  About halfway through, Hannah decided that it was worth putting her dog costume back on so she could get candy.  I think she was glad she did!  She had the whole system down, and said "Trick or treat" and "thank you" at each house.  The kids LOVED everyone's decorations, and it made me want to be more festive.  They would love it.

We have awesome neighbors, and it was fun to go around and see people.  We only made it down our street about 12 or so houses before the kids were too cold to do anything else, so we headed back home where the girls ate candy in the tub, Ryan took a shower, and Calvin sorted candy.  It was a really fun Halloween.  I love our family!
