Sophie is 2!

Sophie turned 2 years old yesterday, and I just can't believe how much she has grown these last few months!  She is a sweet, crazy girl!  We were totally spoiled on Sophie's birthday to have so much family in town to celebrate with us.  Grandma and Grandpa Walton were able to come to town for the day, Christy and Carolin got to come and stay at our house for pretty much the whole week (which was SO AWESOME!) and Grandpa Moore and Benjamin drove down yesterday in time for some of the party and are staying for the weekend!  Sophie had all of her cousins (except William--missed you little buddy!) here for her party, and she had SO much fun!

Having Grandpa and Grandma Walton here all morning and afternoon was great!  They took us all out to Ihop for breakfast, which was fun.  Sophie was funny.  We asked her at home if she wanted pancakes for breakfast, which she did, and then we went to get in the car, and she threw the biggest fit of her life so far (fitting, since it's her second birthday, I suppose) because she didn't understand why we weren't in the kitchen making pancakes.  I guess we don't eat out enough, because she totally did not get the concept of going somewhere else for food.  she completely rejected the banana (usually a favorite) that I offered her to tide her over.  The only thing that got her happy by the time we got to the restraunt was singing "5 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed" all the way there.  She held it together after that, but was still none too pleased that servers were bringing food to EVERYONE BUT US for the first 20 minutes :)  But all was forgiven once she got her breakfast.  Especially after they sang Happy Birthday to her and she got to blow out a candle.

after Ihop my parents took the kids to the nature center for the morning while I went home and cleaned up and baked Sophie's birthday cake.  It was so nice to have some time to get ready for company, especially knowing the kids were having a blast with Grandma and Grandpa.  They also got to go to a store and pick out a toy.  Then Sophie got dropped off for her birthday nap, and the boys got to go out to lunch with Grandma and Grandpa!

At 2:00 the party started.  I felt a little lame, because all I had planned was a cake, knowing that Sophie would be perfectly happy playing with her cousins, which she was!  But it turns out, the kids don't need any planning to have a blast.  The weather was gorgeous, so they all played in the backyard and we made a fire, roasted marshmellows and made s'mores, played ring around the rosie, and had a great time.  It was a perfect party for a 2 year old Sophie, and we all had lots of fun.

We served up cake and ice cream and then moved on to presents.  Sophie liked opening presents at the beginning, but once she opened a little toy kitty cat in a purse from Auntie Janny, it was over.  All she wanted to do was play with that kitty cat and purse.  She was in love!  It took a while to convince her that there was anything else worth looking at, and we finally finished with the rest of the presents, mostly because the bigger kids were in such a tizzy to find out what was in them :)

It was a great party, and I'm so glad everyone was able to come.  That's what makes Sophie the happiest--playing with her cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents, so she had pretty much the happiest day possible!  Thanks for coming, everybody!

Grandma and Grandpa Walton had to leave around 5, and Kelly and Ken and their family left not long after that, so the Moore side of the family decided to grill some hotdogs for dinner.  It was nice, and we all had a great time just eating and talking and playing.  It was such a great day.

Here are a few things I want to remember about Sophie at 2:

-She still loves her Daddy the most.  She is crazy about him.  I love it.
-She thinks "5 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed" is hilarious, and she laughs her head off pretty much every time we sing it.
-At bed time she likes to snuggle her doggie, a book, and always wants us to sing "Tura Lura" and "Hello, Hello".
-She talks and talks and talks and never stops, just like Ryan did (does).  Her vocabulary has grown by leaps and bounds these last few weeks, and she is talking up a storm.  The funniest thing I can remember her saying recently was one day when Calvin had shot her in the eye with a nerf dart, and I took the nerf gun away and put it up high.  Later she walked by and saw it, and started reaching for it, saying "I want the gun.  Want to shoot Calvin in the eye!" Needless to say, I didn't give it to her, but I thought it was funny.
-She will almost always give me a hug if she thinks I am sad.
-She loves to grab onto my legs in the kitchen and hangs on for dear life while I try to get things done in there.
-She loves to eat PBJs, bananas, grapes, bread, berries,  and pancakes.  She doesn't much care for most sweets (but LOVES ice cream) and usually leaves her vegetables alone.
-She loves her brothers and loves playing with them and she loves to play air hockey.

So, here are  some (a ton of!) pictures from her big day yesterday.  We love you, Sophie!  Happy Birthday!

What better way to wake up, than by playing Grandma's electronics together?
