Why Michael is the best.

Michael is the best dad ever.  Case in point.  A few weeks ago Michael stayed home from church with Calvin and Sophie since Calvin had been randomly throwing up in the middle of the night during the previous week and we didn't want to pass that along to anyone else.  So when Ryan and I came home from church, we found this on the door:

Michael had found a cool new walking path on the Mississippi that led to a beautiful shady island with a cool rocky beach while he had been out for a walk with Calvin, so he made Ryan this awesome map and let him lead the way.  He was SO EXCITED.  It was pretty much adorable.  The map had 6 steps:

1. Go under the train
2.  Cross the busy street
3.  Go left and under a plum tree
4.  Turn left at the big white rock
5.  Take the forest trail
6.  Cross the wooden bridge

It was complete with awesome illustrations.  He strapped on his little backpack and then followed the directions to a "T".  He felt like such a big boy.  It was really sweet to see him love his little adventure so much.  Michael has the best ideas!  You're the greatest dad a kid could ask for, Michael!  Here are some of the pictures from the adventure:

Not quite as serious business for this adventurer:

It really was so much fun to do all together.  Thanks, Michael!  We sure are lucky to have you!
