CHRISTMAS!

We had a great Christmas this year! We had so much fun being surrounded by family and having fun together. Kelly and Ken were kind enough to have us sleep over at their house with the whole Walton clan on Christmas Eve, and the kids had so much fun staying up together and watching out the window for Santa. It was so cute! On Christmas morning we opened presents and spent the day at Ken and Kelly's house. It was great to have Grandma and Grandpa Walton and Aunt Danica there, and we all had so much fun spending time together. Later on Christmas we went over to AnnaMarie and Tyler's house and spent some time with them and the girls, which was also really fun. After that, our boys were definitely ready for a good night's sleep in their own beds :)

On Tuesday we drove up here to Ironwood, where we had a second (belated) Christmas with Grandpa, Aunt Christy, Aunt Abbey, Uncle Benjamin, AnnaMarie, Katie Jane, and Hikaru. The kids have been having lots of fun playing together, and of course, opening presents was a blast, too. Mostly it has just been fun to spend time all together and enjoy each others' company.

And here it is, New Years' Eve! I can't believe 2009 is over already! Happy New Year, everybody! Here are a couple (ok...a lot...) of pictures to celebrate!

Our boys in front of our tree at home:

Ryan in front of some presents on Christmas morning:

Opening stocking stuffers! They were a big hit!

He really loved that headlamp!

And of course, Calvin loved his, too!

Ryan loves this great big walking roaring dinosaur. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!

Trying out his new Lightening McQueen slippers at Grandpa Moore's house:

And Calvin LOVES, ABSOLUTELY LOVES his rocking dog!

Katie getting very very excited about her pony:

Benjamin lovin' his new Rubik's cube:

Calvin absconding with Ryan's new soccer ball:

Michael and me opening some presents:

Christy and Benjamin opening presents with Katie and Calvin:

Ryan with a present, and Baby Jane stealing Abbey's candy cane. Ryan did this pose with every present:

Ryan and Katie with their stockings:

Ryan's favorite present was his toy shaving kit. He was already Michael's "shaving buddy", which meant he stood there and got to put soap on his face, but now he gets to pretend to REALLY shave with Michael, and he is so excited every morning! It's really cute to watch. Here he is trying it our for the first time, trying to do it just like his daddy!

He makes this very serious face every time:

Looking at Michael, double checking that he's doing it right:

And I just love these pictures of Calvin with his Aunt Danica. He really loves her a lot!

Thanks everybody for a great Christmas and New Years! We love you!

Ryan was watching "Babe" (the pig movie) and every time scary dramatic music would come on he would say "is something wrong in this movie"?

After trying to get him to recognize that it was the music that was tipping him off, we finally said:

Caroline: What makes you think that something is wrong?

Ryan: My life told me!

Like Father, Like Son

There's an old Moore family tale that goes something like this:

Once upon a time, there was a mischievous little boy named Michael who decided he needed to mortar his blocks together using a tube of toothpaste. It made a big mess, but the little boy was proud of himself. The end.

Today we discovered that history really does repeat itself! Except this time it was with lotion, not toothpaste. Which I think is at least easier to clean up.

This was the best looking tower. The ones on the bed and floor were only 2 or 3 blocks tall, and most of the lotion missed the blocks somehow...But this one was pretty good!

Very proud of himself, indeed!

Coincidence? I think not. Must be genetic.

Dear fall, I miss you!

It's that time of year when we are pretty much stuck inside the house all day. Which isn't so bad, because I actually have been doing a whole lot of Christmas-present-making that has been taking pretty much all day (consequently, my children have been watching a lot of movies), but I am really really missing fall, when I could let them run free in the back yard or take a walk down to the park.

Not that the snow isn't fun. It is. It has just been in the 0 to 10 degree range lately, which makes Ryan not last long, Calvin last even shorter, and me not want to go out at all. But it is pretty, and I do really love Christmastime, so that makes up for the cold weather. I guess i just need to come to terms with the fact that we live in Minnesota...

Anyways, contrary to what I previously thought, I wasn't all craft-ed out. But, I can't post any of what I've done lately until after Christmas. Hence the lack of blogging.

The boys have been great playmates lately, and it is really fun to watch them have fun with each other. We even got brave and had some friends and their 2 kids over for a movie night on Saturday and attempted to get all the kids to sleep so we could watch a movie. 2 out of 4 went to sleep, and Ryan and his friend Adam, who is 5, stayed awake on the boys' new (and free!) bunkbeds until after 11 PM. Church was pretty funny the next day. Anwyays, we had a really good time. Speaking of good times, Michael's Dad sent us to this really fun dinner theater to celebrate our anniversary last week (the anniversary itself was Nov. 28, but the dinner theater was last week). It was a re-telling of A Christmas Carol and the food was sooooo good. We really had a lot of fun, and it was so nice to just go out on a little date together, so thanks Dad, and thanks AnnaMarie and Tyler for watching the boys!

So, in honor of missing fall, here are some pictures of the boys at the park in October. Miss you, 55 degree weather!

And a couple of Calvin building towers in the kitchen...

Cookies for Breakfast

This morning I made the boys pancakes. I decided to make them chocolate chip pancakes, since I couldn't remember ever having made them for them. Ryan love them and wanted syrup or powdered sugar on top as usual.

Calvin though kept ruining the illusion that chocolate chip pancakes could be part of a healthy breakfast. He kept yelling "MORE COOKIE!", "MORE COOKIE!".

Please note that we also gave them orange slices, apple juice and milk. So it's not like it was just cookies...er...pancakes.

CRAFTY!

So, I have been busy lately with a couple of projects, and I thought I'd share. First of all, since we're having a GIRL, I decided to go whole hog and set up our TV. And you know if you have a TV then you need a place to put it. So, voila!

Now I just can't wait to show it to the baby...but that will have to wait. Anyways, I got pretty crazy and decided to do some piano modification. So, even though it gives away our secret hiding place (I know you all really honestly think we'll just watch Lightening McQueen, but...) here it is:

I'm very proud of it!

We decorated for Christmas and the place on the floor for the TV we had been using just didn't fit the bill, so I decided as long as I was feeling crafty, why not! So here is our piano TV hiding place with a computer inside. (And below what I made for our anniversary present for Caroline).

Anyways, that's probably about the extent of my crafty-ness for the next little while, but it was fun!

CRAFTY!

So, I have been busy lately with a couple of projects, and I thought I'd share. First of all, since we're having a GIRL, I decided to go whole hog and make some hair clips. And you know if you have hair clips then you need a place to put them. So, voila!

Now I just need a room to decorate for the baby...but that will have to wait. Anyways, then I got even crazier and decided to do some applique and embroidery on a onesie. So, even though it gives away our name (I know you all really honestly thought we were going to go with Lightening McQueen, but...) here it is:

I'm very proud of it!

THEN we decorated for Christmas and the stockings we had been using just didn't fit the bill, so I decided as long as I was feeling crafty, why not! So here are our stockings, hung by the...sign?...with care (thanks for that sign, by the way, Kelly!):

Anyways, that's probably about the extent of my crafty-ness for the next little while, but it was fun!

Pumpkin Carving!

I know, I know, Halloween was a month ago. But I just finally got these pumpkin carving pictures off of my camera, and they reminded me of how much fun the boys had carving our pumpkin. They are so funny, and I just love seeing their goofy expressions and the ridiculous things they do. Love my boys!

Why yes, that is Calvin holding a steak knife, why do you ask?

Calvin LOVED the pumpkin. He loved everything about it. Except sticking his hand inside.

He also LOVED his spoon and ice cream scooper.

Ryan was braver, and actually dug around inside a little bit. This is his "I'm trying to smile even though this is gross" face:

And here are his spoils! I think he got like, 1 seed. But he was really proud of himself!

Michael, showing the boys how it's done:

You want me to do what?

Success! A jack-o-lantern!

Calvin also loved helping Michael wash off the seeds:

And Calvin did his usual stand-by-the-oven-yelling-"COOKIE!!!!"-until-someone-gives-him-something-tasty-to-eat trick. For the record, both boys loved the pumpkin seeds!

It was a really fun night! Thanks for doing all the work, Michael!

More ultrasound pictures!

So, Michael scanned in the rest of our ultrasound pictures, so I thought I'd put them up for your viewing pleasure. It seemed like with the ultrasounds for Ryan and Calvin I could keep up pretty well with what part of the baby we were looking at, but with this one, I was pretty much at a loss most of the time! This little girl was wiggling all over the whole time, and kept her hands right up by her face and mouth, and it was fun to find out even those couple of little things about her. Anyways, here are the pictures!

On the left is a view of her foot from the bottom of the foot, with her heel by the vertical line on the screen. On the right I think is a profile shot of her foot.

This is her face from the front. I was thinking of adding Skeletor to the name list...

And a couple of profile views of her head:

I guess this is the shot that shows you she is a girl?

Here is her spine...I know! Exciting!

And another face from the front shot:

Apparantly, these are pictures of her hands..

Anyways, we are excited to meet our little girl in a few months!
